What Drafted Does

Drafted is a macOS desktop application that reads your Gmail inbox and creates draft email replies using AI. It runs entirely on your computer.

How Your Data Flows

When Drafted runs, data moves between three places — all initiated from your Mac:

• Your Mac to Gmail: Drafted uses the Gmail API to read your inbox and create drafts. This connection uses your Google OAuth token, stored locally on your machine.
• Your Mac to your AI provider: Email content is sent to the AI provider you chose (Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic) to generate draft replies. This uses your personal API key.
• That's it. There is no third connection. Drafted does not phone home, send analytics, or contact any server we operate.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect any of the following:

• Email content, subjects, or metadata
• Your name, email address, or contact information
• API keys or authentication tokens
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Crash reports
• Device information
• IP addresses

We have no servers that receive data from Drafted. There is no analytics SDK, no tracking pixel, no phone-home mechanism of any kind.

Local Storage

Drafted stores the following files locally on your Mac, in the application directory:

• .env — Your AI provider API key
• .auto-draft-token.json — Your Gmail OAuth refresh token
• style-profile.json — Your learned writing style (greetings, sign-offs, email length)
• draft-log.json — History of drafts created (thread IDs and timestamps)
• config.json — Your preferences (filters, settings)
• draft-notes.md — Calibration notes for improving draft quality

All of these files stay on your machine. None are transmitted anywhere. You can delete them at any time.

Third-Party Services

Drafted connects to two third-party services, both chosen and configured by you:

• Google Gmail API — To read your inbox and create drafts. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Your chosen AI provider — To generate draft replies. Governed by that provider's privacy policy (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google).

We encourage you to review your AI provider's data retention policies. Some providers may retain API inputs for a limited period.

Google API Disclosure

Drafted's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Purchases

When you purchase Drafted, payment is processed by our payment provider. They collect your payment information directly — we never see or store your card number. Your license key is stored locally in your app configuration. We do not maintain a user database.

Children's Privacy

Drafted is not intended for use by anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version at this URL and update the date above. Since Drafted has no way to contact users (we don't have your email), checking this page is the only way to see updates.
